Variables - State

OVERVIEW


Variables can be setup on Widgets or Dashboards. Each Variable has a specific purpose or data it gathers.

This page is dedicated to the State Variable which allows the user to find the current state/mode of a monitoring point(s). The states are Set, Acknowledged, and Cleared for Alerts and Started and Stopped for Processes. Each State has a specific integer associated with it.

Set = 1
Acknowledged = 2
Cleared = 0
Processes
Started = 1
Stopped = 0

This page explains how to setup a State Variable.


NAVIGATION


With a new or existing widget or dashboard opened, click on the Variables button at the top-right position above the layout.


Return to Variables

DETAILS


On the Variables window click on the Add New button.



Each New Variable will have 4 property fields available. Depending on the Type selected, these fields may change. Select the Variable Name field.



Enter a Name for the Variable being created. Ensure the name is recognizable for use in creating the Dashboard or Widget cell.

NOTE - a name must be uppercase letters or numbers. When a space is required, the user must use and underscore "_"

After entering a Variable Name, select the down arrow in the Type field.



Select State from the list.



The Variable Properties will change to show the following fields.

Tag Filter - select what location(s) and/or monitoring point(s) will be used for the Variable.
Conflict Resolution - provide filter for Tag Filters with multiple monitoring points.
Result Type - select how the State will be shown - Number is the only option available.




To setup a Tag Filter for the Variable, click on the Edit button.

To setup an Advanced Tag Filter, click on the Toggle to enable it.

Click on the down arrow in the Conflict Resolution field.



There will be 4 options available - select the best option for the Variable being created. Select the best option for the Variable being created.

Use the first/oldest event - this option will return the state of the monitoring point that first activated/initialized.
Use the latest/newest event - this option will return the state of the monitoring point that was most recently activate/initialized.
Prefer events in the started state - this option will will always show the set/started state before any other states are shown/processed.
Prefer events in the responded state - this option will always show the responded/acknowledged state before any other states are shown/processed.

The Result Type field can only be set to Number.
